Saturday August 23rd 2003 was the Texas 10 tour stop in Lago Vista. 142 players participated in a one day 27 hole tournament. A temporary nine holes were set up on the lake side of Casa Lago Resort who helped host the event. Three rounds of 9 holes were played and awards were held afterwards. Many new comers visiting Lago Vista stayed overnight to participate in the Hill Country Flyers Mini. 64 players participated. Great fun was had by all.
June 14th, Basket 18 has been replaced at the Resort. Thanks to everyone who made donations and helped make this happen. There is now a $100 bounty reward for information leading to the recovery of the stolen basket.
The Resort mow and weed eat, May 31st, was a big success. Ten people braved the heat to beautify and make the course more user friendly. Special thanks to Martin Bowen, Chris Sandman, Mark Atwood, Gary Priest, Jim Warren, Vinnie Miller, Steve Gottner, Chris Ware, and Jon Peacock. For the amount of man power a lot was done.
After just one week and a mini tournament after basket 18 was stolen, $87 was raised toward the purchase of a new basket from player donations. The Hill Country Flyers pledged to match whatever the donations at the mini were and with Jon Peacock putting up $50 of the $62 CTP winnings toward the fund, there is a total of $224 in the new basket fund. Special thanks to all the players that donated and to Mark with Hill Country Flyers for his match.
During the night of April 27th, 28th, number 18 basket at the Lago Vista Resort Course was stolen. How anyone could steal from a non profit organization trying to support disc golf is beyond me. Apparently someone broke the weld at the lock to steal it. Any information on this theft would be very much appreciated. The club is putting up a $100 bounty reward for information leading to the recovery of the basket.
As of Monday April 28th 2003 the Lago Vista Resort has new owners. I have contacted them about the course and club. At this time I am sure they have a lot more on their minds than the disc course. Hopefully they will back us totally.
Special Thanks to Joel Sims for the course maps.
